The Canopy by Hilton in Sioux Falls has made South Dakota history.
The hotel at The Steel District recently was appointed with a AAA Four Diamond designation, a recognition reserved for a select group of hotels each year that demonstrate outstanding hospitality, style, and service.

To achieve the designation, a hotel must pass must pass an unannounced, in-person inspection by professional AAA inspectors, focusing on cleanliness, comfort, and hospitality to meet high standards. Ratings are a combination of objective scores from the inspection and the inspector's professional judgment.
Hotels named AAA Four Diamond offer extensive services, amenities, outstanding cuisine, and remarkable service, representing an upscale experience.

“This honor is especially significant as it makes us the only property in South Dakota to hold Four Diamond status,” general manager and chief enthusiast Hristiyana Ralinova said.
The hotel welcomed its first guests in December 2024 “and ever since, we’ve remained committed to providing a stay that blends elevated comfort with a true sense of place in Sioux Falls,” she said.
From its 216 modern guest rooms and flexible event spaces to Cascata Italian Cuisine and Torrent Coffee Bar, every element of the Canopy was designed with the guest experience in mind.

“We extend our appreciation to our team members for their dedication to excellence and to our guests for choosing us as their home away from home,” Ralinova said. “This milestone is a reflection of both.”
The Canopy also was honored with a 2024 Development Award from Hilton, an annual award that recognizes the outstanding achievements of owners, development partners, and hotel teams across the Americas, celebrating their passion and innovative spirit.

“This year’s cohort of winners are leaders in their fields, demonstrating the very best in design, hospitality and innovation,” said Danny Hughes, president, Americas, Hilton.
“Our owners make it possible for guests to experience our brands in more destinations than ever before, from country firsts to brand debuts, architectural feats to uplifting community partnerships. We’re thrilled to work with the best developers in the industry–those that recognize the strength of Hilton’s brands and the mutual success in our collaboration. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership with the owner community for many years to come.”

Hilton opened more than 400 hotels in the Americas in 2024 and, of the owners of these hotels, 49 winners were selected for distinction in a range of criteria, including a commitment to quality projects, early adoption of newer brands and impact on local communities.
The Canopy by Hilton in Sioux Falls also was recognized for its best-in-class example of a curated retail wall.
Since opening, the hotel proudly has partnered with a variety of local businesses, including The Spice & Tea Exchange, Coffea, Mama Troll, Stensland Family Farms, Freedom Studios, In a Nutshell 605, Heikes Family Farm, Dakota Adventure Supply, Broken Bone, Renner Corner Meats, Songbird Kombucha, Wholly Balls, Jo Creative, and several others.

“Our goal is to give guests an authentic experience of Sioux Falls and South Dakota through thoughtfully selected, locally made items — not the typical products you’d find in a convenience store or airport gift shop,” Ralinova said.
